Become a volunteer

Our volunteers play an important role in supporting service users through their sentence.

Volunteers can be supportive in a variety of ways including with hobbies and interests, joining clubs and societies, keeping fit, making new friends, managing household chores or parenting skills.

Volunteers can also help with practical problems, or by simply being someone to talk to.

Being a volunteer has given me confidence to change my career to be involved in helping people.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and actively encourage people with previous convictions to volunteer. You just need to be over the age of 18 and if you have previously been on probation, it needs to be at least 12 months since your order or licence finished.

Working as a volunteer can provide a valuable insight into the work of probation staff, and the people we work with. You don’t need formal qualifications, just an open mind, a desire to help others and a few spare hours per week.

Volunteers receive accredited training and will be subject to vetting procedures.
