Changes to Wales Probation Services

As of Monday 2 December 2019, under government proposals, we completed the transfer of case management to the National Probation Service (NPS) in Wales.

Wales Probation Services, part of Kent, Surrey and Sussex Community Rehabilitation Company (KSS CRC), will be focusing on providing people on probation with rehabilitative services. These include Accredited Programmes, Unpaid Work, and support for those who have been in prison to resettle in the community. These services will help individuals to gain the knowledge, skills and self-confidence to make positive changes in their lives, thereby reducing reoffending and improving community safety.

We have launched a new website to reflect the services we now offer in Wales. You should be able to find all the information you need, whether it be frequently asked questions if you are just starting probation, or information about how you can get involved as a volunteer. In particular, please check our office locations as some of these have changed. To increase collaboration, we have co-located with the NPS in certain areas.

Our main priority for 2020 is to continue to embed our operating model and introduce new rehabilitative programmes, mentoring services and service user councils, to help us effectively rehabilitate individuals and prevent reoffending. We are pleased to confirm Dawn Blower, our current Chief Officer, will be staying with us on secondment from the NPS. She will support us to deliver the improvements we set out in Wales.
